What is Osteopathy?

Osteopathic treatment is a safe, natural and effective form of hands-on treatment that relieves pain and stiffness to help restore you to normal activity. Osteopaths consider all aspects of health and treat the person, not the condition.

Osteopathy is based on the principle that the structure of the body is related to how well it functions. We work with structural imbalances that are present in the body to restore a state of physical balance.

The range of problems osteopathy can help is wide. If you are struggling with an issue that isn’t mentioned on this site, please feel free to contact us to ask how we can help.

Here’s an overview of problems osteopathy can help:

  • General aches and pains
  • Lower back pain
  • Joint pains
  • Arthritic pain
  • Acute or chronic back pain/back ache
  • Sciatica
  • Neck pain
  • Headache (arising from the neck) and migraine prevention
  • Frozen shoulder/other shoulder pain
  • Elbow pain/tennis elbow (arising from the back and neck)
  • Digestion problems
  • Muscle spasms
  • Neuralgia
  • Fibromyalgia
  • Inability to relax
  • Rheumatic pain
  • Minor sports injuries
  • Hip and knee pain

The Advertising Standards Agency will only allow osteopaths to mention conditions that have proven efficacy via large-scale clinical trials. So even though many osteopathic patients report improvements in other conditions, they are unable to be listed here because large-scale data is not available for them.
